Need a link to a detailed disassembly to restore a rust bucket.
Need to clean up the trigger too, it feels like rubbing two rusty nails every pull.
My other BHP a 1960's Argentine police turn in is like a smooth pull and clean break.
What are the opinions of removing the magazine safety ?
Any opinions on Ion Bond refinishing ?
Need a link to a detailed disassembly to restore a rust bucket.

Although not a video, Stephen Camp's disassembly guide is one of the best step by step instructional guides for field and detail stripping. You can also search Youtube for video guides. I have always done well with the Camp disassembly guide. Inexpensive and helps support Stephen Camp's wife and his legacy. Link to purchase www.hipowersandhandguns.com/Disassembly%20Guide.htm

Ordered Camp's Disassembly Guide today before get much deeper into the '78 trigger issue. My take is the trigger bar hammer drop safety adds more monkey motion and moves any improvement past my pay grade without making it worse. I doubt I could comes close to my '61 in feeling even removing the magazine safety . Probably should get two trigger pins too. They must be available from a vendor here? Any one tried ion bonding finish ? Greg Derr used it on a nice HP. Again above my pay grade.

Good to hear you are making progress with your Hi Powers. The Disassembly Guide is well worth having, along with his Shooters Guide to the Hi Power. Both will not disappoint. For springs, pins, internal parts, BHSS has a good selection with fair pricing and shipping. They are very responsive to HP owners. Link to page with pins is bhspringsolutions.com/index.php/product-category/shop-by-department/gun-parts/hi-power-parts/That is a great looking HP by Derr Precision.

Derr quoted me $2,600 to do my '78 as close as he could, I might as well play with it a bit while I save the money for now. Reading some of the BHSS listing for now. Thanks for the tip. Swapping slides moved the rough trigger with the newer slide. I don't remember what the Australian pistol I had in '67 felt like. I was 20 and didn't know anything. .....

MJ, you might wish to remove the mag safety disconcert, many times this improves the trigger pull. Many Hi power enthusiast have the mag safety removed. Also, new springs might help, including the sear spring. I had an FEG HP clone with a terrible trigger, was like the trigger was dragging across sandpaper. After removing the mag safety and polishing contact points no luck, still awful. Then noticed the sear spring had a strange bend, replaced it, and the trigger is now much better, grittiness is gone. Worth check the sear spring bend when out of the frame. Also, check out some of the BHSS tools for working on Hi Powers, such as the main spring tool and retaining plate tool and others. If you are going to detail strip a Hi Power, these tools are most helpful. bhspringsolutions.com/index.php/product-category/shop-by-department/tools/

Yes - BHSpringSolutions are best for anything and everything Hi-Power,(FEG/Arcus)and quite a bit of 1911 upgrade parts as well! They are my GO-TO source for Hi-Power parts including new manufacture barrels, Guide Rods triggers etc etc. Worth a close look, in my opinion.

A contact email ? A mailing address to send $2 or a way to add $2 to paypal ?
