(also posted on another Hi Power forum) - I am thinking of purchasing an aftermarket barrel for one of my custom Hi Powers. Debating between the BHSS and the Barsto. Both about the same price at around $240 (BHSS after discounts). Barsto has a long time reputation as a premier barrel manufacturer, while BHSS is new to the game with production by EFK Firedragon and is becoming known for innovation and quality products. The Barsto has a twist rater of 1:16, while the BHSS is 1:10, right hand twist. Not sure if this will make a difference for me.
Has anyone compared the two or have any comments on quality, accuracy, or simple preference?
Thanks.

I own a number of Bar-Sto barrels, and two(2) of them are for my BHPs. One is a std. 9mm bbl, and the other is a 7.65Para(30 Luger) conversion bbl. I have zero experience with EFK Firedragon bbl. I started purchasing Bar-Sto bbls back when Irv was still making them....now his son Stony is running the shop, I think. I have been 100% satisfied with their product. Their chambers are cut to the minimum size, as is their bore.....no slop!! Hope this helps.
Note: If they don't have it in stock, they can take a bit of time to make you one......the product is worth the wait to me.

Barsto's reputation is well earned. I have the BHSS (BH Springs Solutions) new Hi Power barrel. As was said, EFK does excellent quality work and reputation as well and BHSS did well going with them. My new BHSS/EFK works great and VERY accurate. It's a drop in with perfect fit. I wouldn't think twice getting one of these new barrels. Btw, they also have a threaded as well as a crowned muzzle versions.

I have zero experience with EFK Firedragon bbl.
In addition to 4 BHSS barrels, I have an old EFK Fire Dragon barrel. It is in no way even close to equal to the BHSS barrel.
Do not mistake the EFK Fire Dragon barrel for the BHSS barrel made by EFK.
As I wrote elsewhere, I cannot imagine there is a better BHP barrel than the BHSS.
Cheers,
Tim

Thanks everyone for the comments and opinions on the two barrels. On the other forum one comment was a new match barrel in many cases is more of a want than a need, and a re-crown and polish to a good condition FN barrel would have similar results and a better return on investment. This really resonated with me. particualary for this project, which is for an RGuns 75C alloy I recently purchased off Gunbroker with the original FN barrel in pretty good shape.
For now, I think will wait unit I have a need for a new after market Hi Power match barrel.
