I decided to try straightening a spare OEM Browning HP trigger, giving it a Garthwaite. look The HP trigger is not as wide nor as solid feeling as the Garthwaite. But if you like the straight trigger feel and look, this is not a difficult process. I did not heat the trigger, and straighten the curved portion in a vise. It took about 3 or 4 vice closures, but rather a simple process. The straightening does leave a slight bump on the back, which I am still working on with files and a dremel for a smooth curve and to work out the metal movement from the vise and clean up the edges. I have not placed in a HP frame yet, and will probably need to remove a little more material from the bottom of the trigger for it to clear the trigger guard. After final filing and fitting I will cold blue the trigger. Before image, left Garthwaite, right Browning After, left the straightened Browning, right Garthwaite

Innovative thinking to be sure... and the price is right... I'll be interested in seeing how it works out... V/r Chuck

Innovative thinking to be sure... and the price is right... I'll be interested in seeing how it works out... V/r Chuck It is coming along, working on the detail fiing, and it is smoothing out and looking better. Only issue is the Browning trigger is not as wide as the Garthwaite, and is less "meatier", so straightening and filing thins the look out even more. Depending upon how it shoots and feels, as well as looks, I am not sure if I would do it with another trigger. Perhaps the C&S Wide Combat trigger would be a better candidate for straightening.

If you think it will be worthy of more experimentation, I will have a couple C&S triggers available soon.
Cheers,

Thanks Tim. Yes, would be interested. Let me know when you have replaced the C&S trigger, and I might be up for another straightening.

Nicely done, Todd. I'm thinking that if you don't perfectly straighten the end of your modified OEM trigger, it will have a little bend like the CZ75 Single Action trigger, which I like.

Thanks Mr C. I had to look up an image of the CZ75 double action trigger. That little bend or hook might be an interesting try. I need to place the altered trigger into a frame and see how much room I have to work with and if the lower bend would bein a comfortable position within the high power trigger guard. Will post as I make progress.
