Hello, Gents. So. I just received my most recent purchase from GB. An LGK stamped D'armes De Guerre. Was very excited ...then heartbreak upon Field Stripping. I found what appears to be evidence of a catastrphic failure...perhaps having the buffer spring guide in upside down? Anyways, I'd like to return; or, request a considerable credit back. I'd like your advice on that....if I'm out of line with that thought ...let me know. But First: I've attached some pics...how do I refer to this portion of the slide where the recoil spring seats? - Heartbreak in OH

I have heard it referred to as the recoil spring tunnel or guide rod tunnel

Back 10 or so years ago when a lot of Izzy surplus HPs were imported I bought quite a few nice guns at reasonable prices... Most were fine but a few were all beat up inside. As you can see the interior of the slide and slide tunnel were beat up by what I was told was barrel/guide rod 'chatter' caused by worn out springs that failed to hold the parts snugly together.
You can see the "V" shaped break in the metal where the metal failed between the barrel area and the recoil spring tunnel and the 'marks' made by the barrel bouncing around.
I think that is what you hve going on in your pistol. I returned this pistol for a refund which was given without an enlargement.
FWIW Chuck

Thanks, Chuck. Wow. Spot on. And thanks, for the pic...almost identical. That really helps. I checked the fit of the lugs between barrel and slide: minimal. almost none. Just looked at spring: its shot. Also checked the 'fit' of the receiver and slide 'rails' : Loose.
Shame. I really would like to have kept this as a learning tool...the markings are great. But just can't do for the price I paid. Not to mention the other FN's I missed out on while going through this. Live and learn

Sorry to bear bad news, but better to avoid a problem gun. This problem isn't too unusual on the Izzy HP imports... probably the result of being run with worn out springs. I had second gun that was starting to show signs of developing the same problem. Replacing the springs seemed to stop the progress of the damage. FWIW Chuck Thanks, Chuck. Wow. Spot on. The GB seller should be censored if they presented this as being in good mechanical condition. Even a novice can tell that something ain't right just by quick visual inspection. Good luck, Scott
