Team,
I'm considering an FN HP in .40 S&W bearing S/N: 513MX 52xxx on Gunbroker.
My question: there is an engraving/roll mark on the barrel above the serial number as viewed in the ejection port.
It starts with "CAC" followed by a few other numbers or letters that I cannot plainly see from the supplied photos and the seller has not replied back to my inquiries about it.
Any ideas of what "CACxxxx" indicates?
Thanks
Frank

Hey Frank, and welcome to the board. Nice looking .40 Hi Power you are looking at on Gunbroker. As you mentioned the lettering is hard to read on the barrel of the Hi Power you are looking at. I am pretty sure it states CAL .40 S&W. See the image below from my 1995 .40 S&W Hi Power. It is stock, with factory sights and no enhancements. Regarding customization and enhancements, I would first take it to the range and see how you like the platform and then decide on what custom featuers you are looking for, and of course what purpose, such as range toy, carry etc. Image from my Browning .40 S&W rollmarked Hi Power

I think it is too. Should I be concerned at the relatively low bids so far? Most other BHP bids are at or above $1K. Of course if it was me, I'd be waiting till the last minute to try and high bid since I haven't figured out sniping on Gunbroker! Thanks for your reply! Most appreciated!

Lord help me now...I won it in a last minute bidding frenzy, but I wasn't going to be denied this time.
Stubborn costs in auctions, but it's done and I'm happy.
Got a good pistol that I've always wanted.
Lots of good info here that helped me define the best package for me, plus Alex at Ten Ring Precision had already performed some basic performance enhancements.
The photos from Gunbroker are too large to post as an attachment, but I'll fix that when it's in hand in a few days.
Todd, thanks for your assistance in answering my questions and confirming the the quality of the deal...that really helped!

Congratulations Frank! Be prepared, as the Hi Power platform can become quickly addictive. You will soon be looking to add another, and another. I started by picking up an FN 1922 because it was cheap and available in a private sale, which let to interest in FN and Browning. Then it was down the Hi Power rabbit hole.
Bidding battles can happen on GB, paying a little more to get the gun you want happens a lot on the auction platform, especially now days. I would rather pay a little more and get what I want when I want it rather than having to wait to save a few bucks. With the 10 Ring trigger/action job your new HP .40 cal should be a great shooter with a great trigger. From the images it looks like it also has Navidrex micarta grips, which are nice and thinner than most Hi Power grips. Many Hi Power enthusiast have them on their Hi Powers. Get some images up and give us a range report after you shoot it. Welcome to the club!

The 40 is a nice and fairly rare gun. It was only produced for a few years and not many then.
I have one that has had a 357SIG barrel fitted... talk about laser accurate!!
