Hello, Back in the early 2000's, I really got into collecting Hi-Power style pistols. My first was the FEG PJK-9HP and my second was the FM Argentine High Power. (I really couldn't afford to buy a Browning Hi-Power back then and even at "used" prices around here; they were very expensive). One day in the local pawn shop, I found this FM Argentine sitting forlornly in the display case and picked it up). It was truly a great shooter and I carried it for a while. The finish on the slide and frame as I recall was the black epoxy coating rather than a blued finish or parkerized finish. However, it shot great at the range and I lament letting it go when I finally acquired a "real deal" Browning MK III. I just wish I could find another..... Best, Chris

A few years ago I fell onto a near NIB FM Model 90 Detective model at my LGS. I couldn't believe it, and it goes without saying, it followed me home. It still resides in my safe, but makes it to the range often. I added Navidrex wood grips, and lightened the mainspring a few #s. The trigger pull is quite acceptable now, and still has the mag safety installed. Slav sent me some new springs for when needed.
I have zero plans to part with this "sweetie".

Thanks for the above FM Hi Power contributions. I have been curious about these pistols. I have not had the opportunity to handle one, however. I hope there will be additional information posted in this area.

Think of the FM Detective as a "commander" sized HP. Really not much difference weight wise from the full size FM HP. I like the size and balance......but then again, I prefer the Commander size 1911 also.

Several years ago I had a friend who wanted to sell all his handguns. I bought all his Hi Powers. One was a FM since it looked as new to me I have never fired it.

If and when I can get my wife to photo it I will as I would like to get more information about it. I think it is a late model serial no. is 392478. The friend that I got it from was very ill and his memory wasn't the best by then.
