I have no evidence of this, but I'd speculate it is a one off made in Pakistan... They make quite a lot of crude knock off guns. FWIW Chuck

+1 on that assumption, although I have never seen a photo of the INDIA made HP's - But would bet they are nicer than this one.

I have had the opportunity to handle an India Arms HP (foolishly I didn't buy it.) The IA HP is slightly less well finished than the Inglis HP of which it is a clone. If you have seen an Inglis you have seen an IA. I think we have some photos of one in our archives. pjk9hp: That is an extraordinarily ugly firearm. It's killing my Christmas spirit and causing me to take extra trips to the eggnog bowl.

While the photo captions mentions Iraq, the article mentions Pakistan. So, if the caption and the article are credible, deductive reasoning tells us Pakistani, 'Khyber Pass Specials' are turning up in Iraq and used for defence by the Kurds.

I had the chance to handle an Ishapore 1A in their factory in India. Was installing the Fast Safety system on it. I think the finish of the gun was decent - even and nice black finish. One could tell that the surfaces of the details was not polished prior to painting but I wouldn't call the overall finish poor or low quality. The Ishapore has one of the slickest actions when equipped with the Fast Safety system. What we see on the first picture here is nothing like the Ishapore 1A.

The one I saw was fairly old... I saw it around 2005 or maybe 2006 and it was not a new gun then. The finish was some sort of phosphate that looked a lot like parkerization. I'd say it was not as well finished as an Inglis HP, which are not beautifully finished... definitely the Inglis is a war time military finish... the IA made HP was in that category... they may of course have various finishes available. My Indian HP has a non-matching barrel and a gray-ish Park'd finish. They are obviously military surplus, but they are definitely factory guns, not anything like that abomination shown above.
