As some may remember, I sent my first FM/FEG (FEMFEG?) to have Cera-Coat applied. Cera-Coat offers a black semi-matt finish that on paper looks a lot like the FN epoxy finish used on some HPs. My Detective #1 was in need of a face lift so I gave it a try... and got it back yesterday. I am in general pleased with the result... though I thought it would have more of a semi-matt finish, I have to admit it looks pretty good and should wear well.... The wear to the poor coating job done to the frame some years ago by a self proclaimed 'gun smiff' is now gone as is the dings and wear to that finish... likewise the wear to whatever FM uses for the paint like finish on the slide is gone too... both replaced with Cera-Coat. At least they look uniform. j The down side? Well the coating has increased the dimensions sufficiently that not all magazines will drop free. All the nickle Mec-Gar mags seem to drop free fine and at least some (though I have not done extensive testing) mags will drop free. This isn't really a big issue in my mind... as long as I can pick out a few that do all is well... The really good balance of the Detective HP of course remains... I really like the feel and the natural point of these guns... Next step is a visit to the range... V/r CHuck

Lookin' good there Chuck.....a big improvement!! As you said, the "before" Detective had more than a couple of boo-boos, and needed a facelift. Now the color matches, and should wear very well for you. I think that you did yourself proud on that Detective!!
