Looking for a source for a BHP extended ambi safety with large serrated surfaces similar to what Cylinder and Slide use to offer. Don Williams said he fabricates each one from the base pistol and does not produce individual safeties for sale and he's 24-months out. Brownell's version has thinner serrated surfaces. The BHSS version is the closest to what I'm looking for, but still not exactly what my sausage fingers need. There's one on eBay for $99, that I might get, but I hate spending a C-note for an "almost what I want" item. I wish someone made an ambi safety like those seen on 1911's. Are there lesser known parts sites/gunsmiths/etc I could explore to maybe source on of these unicorns? Thanks! Frank

Have you checked the C&S website for their Ambi safety. It is showing as available on their website. Regarding lesser known gunsmiths, I would think some would have the skills to extended an existing Hi Power safety. You might need to show them images. But it would probably be hit or miss. Bob Cogan at APW made a small safety for me on one of my projects. He might be your best options for custom safety fabrication work in a timely manner.
Thanks again for the help, Todd! Apparently, I was trying to access an old C&S website. I went ahead and snagged an ambi safety and a few other goodies that were still available especially the Kuhnhausen S&W Revolver Manual 5th Edition which is $20 cheaper than Amazon! So what's the deal with C&S? Is he retiring and someone else is taking over the business or is he simply selling off everything and shutting the doors?
The ambi safety via. the link is a FN Factory Safety.

Ah, ok. Thanks for the clarification, Bob. According to the description, the BHSS ones can be fitted onto pre 1988 Browning Hi-Powers, which should work for my 1981 BHP, if I understand correctly.
I guess the OP was looking for something with larger levers than the BHSS version.
Judging from the pictures, it does appear the levers are a bit larger on the C&S offerings.

When installing the FN ambi-safety on Classic BHPs that still retain their factory parts (small single-side safety, sear & hammer), you may have some fitting to do when retaining the original sear & hammer. Note: The no fitting required exceptions will be when replacing the small, single-side safety on BHPs that were being produced along with the Mk II.
When/if you're installing an FN ambi-safety on Pre-1982 FN-Browning HPs along with replacing the 'sear & hammer' with Post-1982 FN Factory Parts, then you more than likely won't have to fit the safety. Obviously, there may be exceptions to this, but I've personally not had to fit an FN Factory ambi-safety when installing it along with newer (Post-Mk II) FN Factory sears & hammers.
