Ok. I am very excited. I finally got an Inglis No2 MkI*. It is as close to perfect for me as possible.
Early 0T serial number dating it to July 1944 and 90+% surety it was issued to British Paratroopers based on data in "Diamond Inglis."
It has an early safety but (*) 2 marked hammer and front sight.
British Suncorite paint in good shape.
Post-1971 Diemaco Overhaul barrel which I like as it shows a long service life from WW2 deep into the Cold War. I'm not sure what the -O- marking on the bottom is though.
Original JI marked magazine and a second FN magazine.
Pattern 1951 holster.
VERY small Gemsco import mark, which I find actually helpful as it identifies it was in a batch imported by Navy Armys in the 1990s direct from the British stores at Donnington.
Like I said, I couldn't be more thrilled. It is as close to an equivalent "CMP" gun as I'm likely to ever find.
After taking photos the serial number on the slide looks like it MAY have a -1 etched next to it...or it is just a scratch.
It makes a perfect pair for my L1A1 and my CMP Remington Rand!
I'll try to figure out how to post photos.
