Greetings! New to this forum. Purchased an early model FEG. Blued, half moon safety, original barrel style, ring hammer, one sided/frame mounted safety, has serial B 49014, side of slide says “CaL 9mm PARABELLUM” and “MADE IN HUNGARY FEG-BUDAPEST”. Have 2 issues with the gun: 1) it fails the click test. Pull hammer, engage safety, pull trigger “click”, release safety and hammer appears to fall to half cock. 2) bluing is gone on front and rear of handle, mostly gone up near/around muzzle. So, I’m hoping that the new safety I ordered will help with the click/safety issue. If not, maybe I should order a new sear.? Cylinder & Slide or Browning? second issue, I’ve got pretty good reulsuts with 2 guns that I rust blued using Mark Lee Express blue. It’s not cold blue. Wondering if I should ditch the rust and faded blue to redo the finish? thanks in advance for any thoughts. btw - I bought the Decoding FEG Hi-Power book and still not 100% certain which one I have and this gun gun shoots awesome !! Accurate and fun.

I have an older than yours FEG that I bought well used, for a great price. Shot great. Safety never worked. Mine had a bunch of burrs inside the frame where the safety hole is. I removed that excess material and now the old safety works like new. Common sense says I should have altered the easily replaceable part rather than the frame. When I saw the poor workmanship/finishing I took a chance. BTW... I was attempting to install an SFS kit at the time. The SFS safety would not fit. I even tried a second kit to no avail. Both kits fit just fine in real High Powers. IMO... FEG Hi Powers are not equal to real High Powers.
It was satisfying to fix and still shoots like a real High Power!!
-You should probably replace all of the springs, including the sear spring. -I'm toying with sending mine out for a case hardened blue job after having better sights installed with that SFS kit I desire.

Thanks!
i’m going To tear it all down and rust blue it. So, I will look and see if the safety hole is jacked up. I do have lots of tooling marks inside too.
i also got a set of BHSpings with the gun, so I should be good to go there.
Side note,I bought a larger/Ambi safety lever to replace the tiny, impossible, one to move that is currently on there.
i’ll get A new sear if I can find one at reasonable price.
thanks again
