I believe that this is the very thing I was referring to in my post about my new (to me) FEG Counterfeit FN pistol. I attached a photo of the frame showing the barrel cam, and what appears to be a "fitting pad" on the barrel locking bolt. On my new pistol this fitting pad is very prominent - I had never even noticed that it existed on the several other Hi Powers that I owned over the year. When I checked my other FEG this pad was there but was nearly flush with the remainder of the bolt. But on my forged-frame MKIII it was more prominent, but still not as noticeable as the one on my FN Counterfeit. It appears to me that this raised pad would engage the surface designated A3 and B3 in pjk-9hp's markup of the old and new barrel. The barrel would be fitted by either filing down the indicated surface, or by filing down the raised pad. Of course if you are fitting a new barrel to and existing frame, it would make sense to my to leave the cross boly along, and instead remove material from the barrel lug. How about someone with barrel fitting experience chiming in here?
