A local shop had a closeout special on M9A1’s, and I wanted the checkering on the frame and wound up getting one.
I love the gun except for the sights.
I may just be used to the old style, but I’m also not alone.
Beretta said they were requested to go to the 3-dot sights.
Does anyone know why that was requested? Do people here like the small, non-tritium 3-dot sights? Are they easier to train with?
Anyway, thinking of switching out the rear yo a classic M9 and didn’t know if I was missing something.

Hello, Ruber,
Personally, I don't like anything on a rear sight face other than plain black, so I always paint over the factory applied white with black. Anti-glare serrations are OK, but NO dots, bars or even the single bar for mine.
A white or gold dot or bar/line on the front doesn't bother me and, it is helpful in dim lighting, but I don't feel the need to change the plain black front sights on my Series 70's over to the Series 80 dot. However, since I keep both styles on hand, I might replace a black front with a dot if one needed replacing, but not just for something to do.
A person can concentrate on the front sight & target at the same time, but concentrating on the rear sight, plus the front sight, PLUS the Target, all at the same time requires a lot of talent...

Yep, I sharpie the rear sights a lot to, maybe comes out a little more purplish, but a good coverup.
