Ok, without doing internet searches, who here has/had one of these...
I’ve wanted one since the eighties, just never got one until now.

Could that be a BDA? I've heard they are remarkable. I don't have one.

Yep, BDA 380: A neat little design, a collaborative effort between FN, DGFM, and Beretta. Alloy frame like the 92, but a slide mounted safety that predates the 92S by a couple years. Takes the same mags as the 84. The late 70’s, early 80’s was when I got into shooting sports the most. At the time I liked all things Browning, but was mostly competitive in trap. So I’d look longingly at the Browning pistols in the cases as I spent my cash on powder and shot. By the time I could afford one of these, new laws and low production put them out of reach. They show up on consignment around here occasionally, but I always seemed to be late to the table. Timing was right on this one though.. -Chris

I have never seen one.
How similar is it to the 85FS? I picked up a nice used one a couple months ago and found I did not shoot it as well as the smaller Sig P239 (or 938).

It is more similar to the 84 (double stack), so ergonomics might play into it, but I would imagine which one shoots better would be luck of the draw. But I’m not really expecting a tack driver.
I have not shot this one yet, so will need to wait and see, but I was happy with the older one I shot. This one is from 95, kinda nervous about it, I think more care was taken with earlier guns.
I’ve had mixed luck with Sig .380’s. I really liked the p232, but. not the 238. I have not tried their micro-9’s, for compact 9 & .40, I have a hard time wanting much more than the CZ 2075.

When the manufacturing contract was completed, Tanfaglio used the tooling to make their cheaper version of the BDA

Mine is a really nice gun... made in Italy by Beretta for sale by Browning/FN.
The one I have is satisfactorily accurate and like most Berettas is extremely reliable... a really nice gun... mine is an Izzy police trade in gun.
If you shoot it I think you will like it

Well, I can see I’m going to need some more .380 auto. I don’t think I’ve ever had this much fun with that little round. I got the BDA home and cleaned it up and lubed it. It had some gummy preservative but other than that, was bone dry. It has aftermarket grips and a couple spots of rust, so I don’t think anyone was keeping it as a safe queen. But I really could not see any evidence of it ever being fired beyond a few test rounds. It also started out very stiff. It smoothed out quite a bit over the first 50 rounds. The trigger after initial cleaning was 5lb SA. After 100 rounds, it was already below 4lb. I also ran my new gun standard Rangemaster drill. I certainly did not perform as well with it compared to the big Hk’s, but did much better than with my subcompact 9’s. Slow fire long shots suffered, that is where I lost most points. The thin blade sight is tough at distance. But got quite a bit better with it by the second go around. Quick follow up shots were great! It was fun to shoot the rapid fire 7 yard drills!!! I wound up going through the rest of my ammo on those. A super fun gun to shoot, and runs smooth and reliable so far. I’ll clean it up and post some more pics soon.
