Was able to get the 29-2 off of layaway this morning. There are a couple small marks here and there but otherwise little wear showing. Serial dates it to 1980. Great revolver! I have it's twin brother in my safe. I keep thinking I want to use it if I can find the San Francisco PD qualification course! Howard

Great looking Mod 29. I had one just like it except mine has a nickel finish with a 6.5 in barrel and I used it for hunting. Took one deer and a boar hog with it. It came in a wood box with a blue interior. Soled it to a good friend about 6 years ago.

A great looking Mod. 29!! I own it's older brother with a 4" bbl, that I purchased in 1972-73. I don't shoot full tilt magnums out of it anymore, as it gets a bit painful to my hands and wrists......getting old is not for sissies!!

You got yourself one beautiful revolver. The 29-2 is to S&W what the Python is to Colt. I've owned several and still have my first one from the early 1970s. The barrel is 6.5" and the action is silky smooth. My standard load for the gun is a 255 grain swc, both plain base and gc, over 18 grains of 2400. It's a mild load that gives about 1150 fps and is easy on the hands; I save the warmer loads for my SBH. Your revolver looks pristine. You'll find it accurate and much fun to shoot, especially if you stay away from full power loads.
