Great video!!
The AR7 is a really nice rifle... If I had to bug out and could only take one firearm the AR7 would be it... Mrs. CXM and I both have one... they are really inexpensive and handy too... they can carry three magazines on board for 24 rounds of .22LR. Henry has 8 rd magazines for the AR7.
The whole thing breaks down into the stock, which is buoyant as well. Add a brick of .22LR ammo and you are good to go. WIth an AR7 you can hunt and do very stealthy defensive shooting if you are forced to do so...
Thanks for the video.

The rifle in the video lives in my Jeep. It's always there just in case I need it. The only thing I wish was different about it is the chambering. Maybe a .22 Magnum would be a little more versitle. The original version of this gun as made by Armalite as you doubtless recall was a .22 Hornet...
I often thought the .22Jet would be a good cartridge for the AR7, but once again it has a rim which does not help with semi functioning... and it reduces ammo capacity a good bit.
The little FN 5.7mm might be a good candidate?

Hello Howard,
Another good video of your work! You have by far more determination, talent and patience than I do. Your work turned out very nicely on the Henry AR-7! Thank you for sharing it with us.

Chris The 5.7mm would be an interesting cartridge in the AR-7. I wonder how much heavier it might have to be to deal with the greater pressures? HRF

Your end product really turned out nice.....good work!! I had not thought about the AR7 for a long time now, and your video reminded me of it. My AR7 was made back when Charter Arms was building them. I believe that Henry Arms purchased the rights, etc. from Charter Arms. There were 3-4 different companies(all one at a time) over the years that produced the AR7. Last time I had mine at the range, it ran like a Singer Sewing Machine!! I should get that rifle out and run some ammo through it. Thanx for the video and the reminder.

Interestingly, Henry did not purchase the rights to the AR-7. They simply waited until the patents expired, and then reverse engineered the design. They also added an optic rail to the top of the receiver. You've got to love Henry's determination and innovation. For a relatively young company, they keep taking on markets that have been dominated for decades by big names in the business and carving out a respectable share for themselves. I've been a Marlin levergun fan for years, but some of the Henry offerings are catching my eye. Since Marlin, in it's original form, no longer exists; I may just have to give one of their lever actions a try. Stay tuned for that video coming up some day! Howard
