Seems a lot of us are dog people... so I thought it might be fun to have a dog thread... (no cats allowed ) I'll start the ball rolling with our dog Sherlock... la 94lb silver standard Poodle... Like all the standard poodles we have had, he is athletic, energetic, gentle and sweet natured...and a great guardian of the household. Here is Sherlock when he first joined the family... Sherlock loves to play ball... his jaws are so strong he can flatten a tennis ball... chews them up in no time... happily we live near tennis courts where Sherlock can forage for stray balls and thus keeps himself supplied... He has a huge amount of energy... never seems to get tired... Playing ball with Sherlock is good exercise... he is FAST!! In this shot all his feet are off the ground... With his big brown eyes,he can talk you out of just about anything!!! V/r Chuck

Always a great Pal. He is 9 now, & still able to jump 3 times his height, understands English. He'd walk through fire to be with us. Highly recommend American water Spaniels

Hello, I haven't posted on this thread because I was nursing my own dog to the end of his days. It was a sad time and I didn't really have much to say here. My faithful dog, Fritz the miniature Schnauzer gave me many years of companionship and his passing was like losing a child in my family. However, I did wind up with a another good dog. Meet Zoe, the big girl! She is ferocious and friendly at the same time. I've had some neighbor's remark "you don't need a firearm with that big dog to defend you or your home". She spends most of her waking moments at my side. Lot's of licks and love here folks! Chris

Chris, I have been there also. I think You did just the right thing giving that big beauty a home. Her color is similar to my Jack (my 3rd American water spaniel), & I'm also familiar with that fond expression. What I like about a dog over 50 lbs, is they are tough, & harder to hurt by stepping on them. Best Wishes, Craig

Hi Dog Lovers, I wanted to share a couple of things I like: Our dog Jack is a family member who has our complete confidence, & run of the house. We have a leather couch - so no problems for him getting comfy there, but he frequently chews his paws, bone, & snacks on our DOUBLE BED & made damp spots. So - I had a 1000 denier, Cordura Canvas, 7'x 8' Tarp (without grommets) made up in Olive Green, as a DOG PROOF BED SPREAD. It is a great item. I had it made by PEAKS TARPS, & spoke to GLEN,PH. 978-365-5555, with my measurements needed. They did a beautiful job, it only cost $40. delivered from Mass. to Georgia. Their website is: www.peaksonline.net to see colors available. I've had it 4 months now & it has held up great & it is a perfect accessory for us rustic K-9 fans. Also enclosing a delightful antique Photo I bought years ago. The Dog looks like our pal Jack - but huge. Jack is also very focused at meal times, so we really relate to the photo, which could easily be 100 years old.
