TODDSIG over on the 1911 forum has had his BR9 & BR9SS out to the range with really outstanding results. Lots more info posted over there. I recently moved here, & haven't made a good contact with a place to shoot. The local indoor range is very pricey - I don't like indoor shooting anyway. Last night I tried to remove my Magazine Safety, & the Regents trigger parts are a lot more substantial & better made with very close tolerances, so I was not able to remove the safety as easily as those in my FEGs. I'm going to need to remove the trigger pinion to get the safety out. Hopefully I can succeed with this today,& not need my gunsmith. The Regent trigger isn't bad from the factory, I just don't like magazine safeties on anything I own.
GOT MY MAGAZINE SAFETY OUT, after freeing the trigger assembly, by removing the trigger pinion. This allowed the magazine safety to be withdrawn to the rear. The Regent trigger parts were meatier than the parts on my FEGs with tighter tolerances. Mission accomplished with no Knicks or Scratches. The trigger take up seems shorter now, & the trigger pull is improved, & will get even better with use. Big Thanks to TODD for his explanation, & the BHSprings article about trigger Pin & their Punch.
I'm beginning to think these Stainless Regent High Powers may be made BETTER than the FN BROWNINGs. Any owner confirmations ?

PERFORMANCE UPDATE: Over on the 1911 forum there is much more info on these, the usual discussion of possible MIM parts, & a number of reviews - mostly excellent. One reviewer had feeding trouble from an off brand magazine, & another reviewer is torture testing his, putting lots of rounds down range - He had the CLAW BREAK OFF HIS EXTRACTOR, & replaced it with a new FN HP part (it Fit), & testing continues. I have had no problems at all with mine, I have changed the grips & removed the magazine safety. But my testing is not intense as some, & has involved a few rapid fire mag dumps, various ammo types, & chasing around empty milk jugs. My BR9SS is far more accurate than I am, we chased those terrified jugs quite a surprising distance. I am satisfied that it is trustworthy, & look forward to years of enjoyment. I don't care for the finish of the Cerakoted BR9 - but it's just a cosmetic thing - I don't care for the finish on the FN MKIII either. I am an enthusiastic REGENT BR9SS fan.

Latest new REGENT developments: Brownell's is now selling both the Tisas Regent HP Models. One member on the 1911 forum, broke an extractor claw - while rigorously testing his, putting a few of MY years worth of ammo through his. Only problem reported so far. I'm still delighted with mine. Brownell's stock of Regents are some of the first 500 stainless models. IMO they won't last long, & you should get one while you still can. Best buy of the decade !

PERFORMANCE UPDATE: I understand a couple of owners who have used theirs more than me, have had ejectors break. I've had no problems - but do have a spare ejector ready in case. Love this pistol.
FYI, Brownell's is now selling both REGENT HP Models.

A replacement extractor and a BHSS extractor spring were fitted in mine that night and it functioned flawlessly for 320 rounds the next day. Might be able to get the total count over 1000 this next week. Tim

FYI - BHSprings has posted a huge review over on the 1911 forum. They like the pistol, but suggest replacing some pins & springs, Also their safety fast system works well in them. They don't care for HP stock safety, but I personally still like them. I'm printing out the excellent review they sent me (emailing list) to include in my HP repair guide.

Lots of discussion over on the 1911 forum about the TISAS REGENT BR9 series. At least one pistol (after firing 6000 rounds) had been found to have its barrel breach opening off center, causing the extractor claw to break. The same pistol also had the bottom half of the firing pin retainer break off. The most severe critics seems to be non BR9 owners. MOST of us owners are still very happy with them. The good news is that CYLINDER & SLIDE has chosen both BR9 models as a platform for custom builds @ around $2 to $3K. Those of us who don't need a beavertail or any special machine work, that can handle upgrades ourselves, & enjoy what IMO was good fortune to buy one. I'm still loving my BR9SS, but have not done unusual endurance testing or exhausting my ammo stash. The only changes I made were: removing the Magazine safety, & Uncle Mikes rubber Speigel Grips, with stainless Allen head screws. I do wonder if the BR9s will dry up, as our relationship with Turkey continues to go downhill, I heard "sanctions" mentioned recently, & firearm imports are frequently one of the first. I don't see how this will hurt present Regent owners (especially those of us who keep FEGs working) but those who want one might not get one.

Thanks for the update... I too think the BR9 will turn out to be an excellent gun... lots of new products have some teething problems... I will buy one later this year. Just jumped in on a BR9SS, haven’t even taken it to the range yet. Waiting on the reliability kit from BHSS. Tried to install Pachmayr signature grips (non finger groove variety) as I have with my other Hi Powers. Installation on my FN Practical and pre 1990 FN-licensed Argentine was relatively straight forward, there’s always a little stretching and fiddling, but they go on. There doesn’t seem to be enough material on the blackstrap piece to fit the Tisas. Not even close, really. The grip panels don’t completely cover the mag well cutouts in the frame without it.
Anyone else encountered similar issues? Can anyone recommend similar grips that don’t have the integral front strap bit that requires stretching around the front of the grip?

One solution is to cut the front strap off the Pachmayr grip panels.OR TRY SOAKING IN VERY HOT WATER FIRST. they should stretch.

I'm a little disappointed to see that they used a round hammer and old-style safety. Those round hammers beat the crap out of my hand.

Hi, Not to hard to change out, or file down the bottom of hammer lobe. I like BOTH, ORIGINAL Hammer & Small Safety. I haven't been bit yet, & IMO the small safety is less apt to be accidently moved during carry. Many HP owners have changed to the BHS safety fast & ambidextrous safety. NOT I however. In fact, I will gladly provide a good home for all unwanted original FN,FEG,TISAS, TAKE OFF PARTS.

Hah! Whenever I swap-out parts on a gun I lock them away like red-headed stepchildren. Never know when you might need to cannibalize one for parts.
