Hello Howard,
I am sorry to here that you may be sending the pistol back to Metro Arms.... I had high hopes at the beginning of the video! It was starting to look promising. However, in spite the outcome, it's still another one of your great videos!

Hi Howard,
Finally catching up on posts and videos. Sorry that Max-1 is still giving you problems. Looks like it will be a really fun pistol once that all gets worked out

Hi Howard, Finally catching up on posts and videos. Sorry that Max-1 is still giving you problems. Looks like it will be a really fun pistol once that all gets worked out The upside to all of this is I really like the cartridge. This past Saturday, I loaded up my first experimental hand-loads and I was really impressed with the performance. I was using a 124gr. Beery's plated RN and AA #7. My beginning load of 8.5 grains was clocking 1200 fps over my Shooting Chrony. 9.0 grains was up to 1240 fps, and 9.5 was right at 1325. Just for fun, I loaded up a few rounds with a max loading of 10 grains and those bullets were averaging around 1370 fps. This was all on a 25 degree winter day after the ammo had been exposed to the cold for a couple of hours (while I was making the above video). In warmer weather, the velocities would have likely been higher. The accuracy was looking good, and even the functioning seemed more reliable with my hand-loads (as in no stoppages during the last 25 rounds fired). Watch for an upcoming video on loading the 38 Super! Howard

Hello Howard,
I am really looking forward to your next video on the 38 Super and wonder in the back of my feeble mind if the problems that you are have are "break-in" issues? Have you had a chance to call Metro Arms and get their opinion? You can certainly link videos to them in your email correspondence to them. (Of course all of the videos are great!) I personally am very happy that you like the 38 Super...

I personally am very happy that you like the 38 Super... Chris I. contacted Eagle Imports (the New Jersey company that Imports Metroarms products). Their response was to send it to the warranty center for repair. They didn’t seem to have any interest in trying to trouble-shoot the pistol. Oh, and shipping the pistol to Texas is on my dime. That’s another $25-$30. They do, at least, spring for return shipping. Howard

Howard,
Are you loading Berry's regular plated, or TP(thick plated) bullets. If you are loading the regular plated ones, I was wondering if you noticed any jacket/plating separation on the loads with a velocity over 1250 fps? I see that the TP bullets are good up to 1500 fps. I used a lot of his bullets a few years back, with good results. His increased prices moved me over to Precision Delta and Xtreme bullets.

I did not notice any issues with jacket separation, but admittedly I did not recover any fired bullets. The ones I’m using are the standard bullets, not the “TP’s”. Howard

That pistol does, indeed, appear to have great possibilities for an out of the box pistol. Hope the warranty center takes care of the problems. I like the .38Sup and have had several plus the Colt series 70 now living with me. Best of luck.

I don't know about the rest of you guys, but the story of Howard's Llama Max-1 has become like a Mexican telenovela for me. The drama and suspense is killing me. In this episode, everything seemed to be moving toward a happy ending. Then, that pesky Chip McCormick showed up. Dang. He is one bad hombre. Will the nosedive issue be resolved? Is the Winchester Silvertip being sincere when it functions successfully, or has it got ulterior motives? Will we wind up with Mr. Mec Gar when the whole drama is resolved? I'm fully subscribed, and I can't wait for the next installment. Hang in there, Howard. We're rooting for you.
