Since I have a Feg marketed by Mauser, that came to me with a hard chromed receiver, I have been curious if that was an original sales option, or done later. I have seen enough hard chromed examples in the used market to suspect that may have been an option. Mine has an import mark engraved through the hard chrome - so I know the chrome was done before it came to the USA. I was never even aware these pistols existed until a couple of years ago, & am curious if anyone remembers seeing marketing descriptions & options etc ?
Thanks, C.

From memory, I do not remember any finish on FEGs except polished bluing. However, I could be mistaken.

I'm in the same boat as abninftr. I've never heard of a factory FEG finish except for polished bluing. However, that doesn't prevent a manufacturer from turning out an occasional special gun for a VIP, and FEG remains a master of mystery. I wouldn't put anything past them. JayPee

HELLO TODD, That is some great & illuminating detective work. Thank you for doing it. Now I'm going to hunt around for original catalogue listings for Mauser Model 80SA.

Thanks Craig. I am still disappointed, and a bit leery since there are no images of an original chrome FEG Hi Power clone, at least that I could find. FEG was using hard chrome on frames for their model PA 63. Not a stretch to think HP clones were done in a limited quantity as well. Let us know if you find anything interesting on the Mauser 80SA.

Here are pix of 2 chrome FEGs. The first marked imported by Kassnar, the second a Mauser model 80 SA. Both show wear, that suggest the finish may have been original. No one knows for sure, but Fegs have proven to be finished in many ways. Note the short slide lock on the Feg.

Thanks for posting the images Craig. The chrome Kassnar is an interesting exampled. Where was that listed and did it have any info about it? In my searches I found some hard chrome FEGs offered by Buds imported by Interarms, Houston, which are very similar to the Mauser example you found. Your example is also Interarms, Houston. Given the barrels appear to be blued or finished, makes me question what has been done. The question is, are the finish original or aftermarket? The bulk of old Feg barrels I have seen are dark - but they have all been with blued pistols.
