This time of year in So. Az. the temp is waaaay above warm!! Basically, it is shorts and tee shirt weather if one goes out during the day......I do limit my mid-day trips. So, my old trusty KelTec P3AT with a Crimson Trace laser in a billfold holster is the std. carry, and will be until it cools down a bunch(about late Oct.).

Is that 1911 actually lighter than the aluminum-framed Sig 228? I will really only be carrying it open, during work, so size and weight aren't really the prime factors. I will just have to continue practice with D/A first shots. I get great speedy groups in S/A, but D/A I've been up to a foot off at 25 ft.

I was in a small town in Florida several years ago while on a fishing trip with my father. We had gone to the local 'supermarket' (it wasn't very super) when I noticed the lady in front of us at the check out had a full size Government model tucked, Mexican carry, into the waistband of her shorts under her tank top. It was hot and humid as only central Florida can be, and that passed as concealed by her standards.

The scandium frame is very light... holding both the 228 and the S&W Commander the S&W seems to be lighter... FWIW Chuck Is that 1911 actually lighter than the aluminum-framed Sig 228? Pretty hot & humid yesterday, I was going into unfamiliar territory hereabouts, So I grabbed my Iver Johnson TP22 going out the door. it fits nicely in the back pocket of my jeans. These mouse guns are DA/SA Walther clones made by ERMA WERKS in Germany, but assembled & labeled by I.J. & Surprisingly accurate, dependable + light & small. Strictly last resort close up self defense at best.

Had to roust a couple of squatters off a client’s property this morning. They had set up a tent site and had a fire going. It’s been dead dry here.
Anyway, they were good about it but I was happy to have my Model 49 J Frame and did t feel undergunned.

I've been regularly carrying my FEG Counterfeit FN Hi Power. I really like that it was reparkerized by the Israelis while in their possession, as I find the finish to be impervious to sweat-induced rust that would kill my blued MKIII. I reworked this pistol by replacing the grips with black plastic military-style grips, removed the magazine disconnect, and replaced the recoil spring, extractor spring, magazine catch spring, and firing pin and spring. I kept, and actually like, the original style small safety - I've never found it switching itself off of safe like the ambi safety on my MKIII does. Using Mec-Gar 13-round mags, it's 100% reliable with my choice of defensive ammo, the Federal 9BP 115 grain JHP.
I carry it in an Israeli Yamam IWB holster made for a CZ 75 B, which carries it high and with a forward tilt. It tucks up under my right elbow, and disappears under a loose t-shirt. The extra mag is in a Falco single mag pouch with a snap flap, also made for the CZ.
My belt is a Bullhide 1/4" thick belt with the adjustment holes at 3/4" centers. The 3/4" spacing lets me find that "Goldilocks" setting - not too loose and not too tight. Best gun belt I've ever had in 54-years of carrying.
This whole outfit works well in jeans or jean shorts in all weather, even the hot, humid, sticky stuff that they call weather around here lately. I strap it on pretty much every day at about 6:00 AM, and wear it through 7:00 or so PM.

I decided to go to the pocket carry root. So am carrying a Post War Walther PP in .380. Sometimes the Walther .380 is a backup gun, if I am carrying one of my higher capacity guns.

It used to be that when I needed the smallest gun possible that I would resort to a Kel-Tec P32. I have recently acquired a Beretta Pico, and even though it is ugly as home grown sin, it is reliable and only a smidge bigger than the KT. It has much better sights than the KT, and gives me .380 instead of .32. I have it loaded with Fiocci Extrema XTP's, whereas I was carrying S&B FMJ in the .32.

Today as part of my carry rotation, I'm carrying my Sig P-220 .45 cal. in Galco Royal Guard holster. This gun was my first carry gun after I got my first CC license some 10 years ago. This Sig was made in West Germany too, in 1981. The grips are CT red laser grips.

Very cool! My W German P220 is hands down my most reliable .45. It’s fun to shoot too, so it gets frequent use at the range and is definitely a go-to for me.

Gotta say my newish 92fs compact has become one of my favorites. It has been wholly reliable and a great shooter. Just a little lighter and shorter giving it a nice fit for me. Definitely top of my list for carry right now.

The Sigs above made me think to post a pic of my IDF surplus P228, my regular work carry gun. Never posted a pic here before, so I thought it was worth a try. I put G10 grips on it, and a bit of orange glow paint in the front sight. I've been carrying it in a Blackhawk Serpa.
