In addition to carrying "only" 9x19 these days I also find that I normally carry a smaller package and less ammo. Most days it is a Kahr PM9/CT 6+1 in a BORAII pocket holster along with an extra 7 rd. magazine. Sometimes is is a S&W 442 with a couple of extra Speed-Strips.
Since I make it a point to avoid the "4 Stupids" I believe that this will be adequate.
The "4 Stupids":
Stupid things Stupid people Stupid places Stupid times
Trouble is going to have to work hard to find me, since I am not looking for it.

I have never heard of the '4 Stupids" before... but I like them a lot... and I'm sure they go a long way to keeping people safe... Thanks for sharing... I shoot them out of FEG HP's, BHP's, CZ 85's and '85B's, and three Turkish clones of the CZ 75B and '75B Compact. They're accurate as heck out of all of them and function flawlessly.

In the past year I've carried either .357 SIG or .38 Special for most "social" occasions. But I've also carried .45 ACP and 9x19, depending on weather, dress codes, or threat conditions.

Hello,
I either carry a 9mm Browning Hi-Power or, a COLT Government Model .45 Automatic.
For hard target/barrier penetration, I much prefer the 9mm over the .45 AUTO, plus having 13-Rds. on tap is a whole lot more comforting than only having seven...
My .40 caliber Hi-Powers might offer the best of both worlds - but I just don't like the un-forgiving characteristics of the .40 S&W Cartridge when it comes to bullet set-back, over-charges, ect.
For 9mm ammo, I like 124-gr. FMJ and 147-gr. JHPs. For .45 AUTO, I pretty much just carry 230-gr. Ball, and for .40 S&W, I use 180-gr. FMJ & JHP.

Last time I took a course at Thunder Ranch (it was still in Texas so you can see how long ago that was) Clint Smith explained he carried only ball in his .45 auto pistol... he explained the .45 always punches a .45 cal hole... with other rounds you may get expansion... or you may not... Made sense to me... V/r CHuck Hello, I either carry a 9mm Browning Hi-Power or, a COLT Government Model .45 Automatic. Chris Once more, I will point out that it isn't the size of the holes you drill, but where you drill the holes that counts. With that, I am still carrying the same BHP loaded with 124 gr 9 mm JHPs I was carrying when I first replied to this thread several months ago.
