I only have one real Hi Power manufactured by FN. I bought it on GunBroker from Coles Distributing back in December, 2012. It is pretty much a plain jane version, but it shoots way better than I can and does have an ambidextrous safety. Here is the original listing photo - I really do have to work out getting my cell phone camera back up and running for some recent shots of the collection.

The Izzy surplus HPs that Cole (CDI SALES) offered were really good values... after about six years of great deals, the supply of surplus HPs is pretty much dried up...
Because of the law of supply and demand the large supply of cheap used HPs on the market kept overall prices lower than they otherwise would have been... I expect we are going to see HP prices go up in the near future... I wish I had bought more of the surplus guns (plain old shooter grade guns, not the collector stuff.) I think those 'shooters' are going to increase in value a good bit...
That is a nice catch on your part.

Mr. Bill, is your pistol a MKII? Nice find. And I believe your correct Chuck on future Hi-Power sales starting climb up due to limited surplus availability. It was a good run for the Israeli Police turn ins.

Yes, wags - according to this info: www.hipowersandhandguns.com/DifferenceMkIIandMkIII.htm this pistol would be a MKII model Hi Power with the front sight as part of the rib along the top of the slide and the 'extended' barrel bushing. I paid just shy of $500 including shipping and transfer back in December, 2012 (one of the most expensive used firearms I ever purchased). All the numbers match and I have left it in its original configuration with the magazine disconnect still in place. I have not found any Israeli markings on it - it really does not appear to have been fired or carried much at all. I currently have it cleaned and slathered in oil for storage, and was actually thinking about putting it up for sale a couple weeks ago, but since I discovered a link to this new forum that JayPee posted on 'The High Road' I have changed my mind about selling it. It is just about in the nicest condition of any used firearm I have bought and reading through the threads here have once more got me excited again about shooting the Hi Power.

Here are a couple that have seen their share of holster time, High gloss Norrels didn't like my stippling Grip swap after I was carrying the alloy as I prefer smooth to my skin side. Now if Photobucket would be more accommodating there would be a few more.

Nice guns... I wish my 1936 was as nice as your HP. V/r Chuck Here are mine a 1939 Belgian High Power GP and a post war Belgian High Power 1972 C series Chuck I have a letter from Anthony Vanderlinden telling that my GP High Power was originally sold to the government of Finland. It left FN on December 1st, 1939 as part of the first shipment of 900 High Power Pistols for Finland. He also told me that all the pistols shipped with a matching FN shoulder stock. I don't have that.

The Finnish guns can be quite valuable... you have a really nice catch there. Shoulder stocks for those guns (and high powers in genera) are quite scarce. Probably because they were illegal for a very long time.
May I ask where you got your Fin HP?
Thanks
Chuck

Chuck I purchased it from Scotty Benedict at Pre98. He told me it was a bring back from the family of a WII GI.

As a captured gun, yours must have a really interesting history... Made at FN for Finland, captured by the Russians in 1939 war. Then captured by the Germans in 1941-42 (most likely) and then winding up on the front in France/Belgium/Germany to be captured by the U.S. Sort of ironic if it was captured in Belgium where it was originally made!!! THanks for sharing... Chuck I purchased it from Scotty Benedict at Pre98. He told me it was a bring back from the family of a WII GI.
