Hello abninftr, Here's my MK IV 1/2 rebuild. Bolt action: I have a No.4 Mk II Lee Enfield and a SMLE that are both great. Semi-Auto: L1A1 SLR. It is like an old friend. It is like a "new condition" rifle. It is a pleasure to own and shoot! Best, Chris

Kind of hard to pick a favorite among these three. My newly acquired M1 Carbine is growing on me as well. Back when, I had a dandy Persian Mauser I wish I'd hung onto. Lately I've decided to stick mainly with US arms, more to conserve space than anything else. I do need a nice Krag and an M1917.

A couple M1 Garand's, a favorite. Helps when Camp Perry CMP Store is 8 minutes away.

Not being a hunter, unless I should happen to get very hungry, I only owned a couple of rifles, a prewar 30-30 Winchester 94, & a WWII Enfield years ago. Both pounded my shoulder, & I can't say I enjoyed them to their fullest. The Enfield was extremely accurate. Back when they were practically paying you to take home a CAI 7.62x39 Romanian AK - I did. It worked perfectly from new, but I struggled some zeroing the front sight. Once sorted, it became increasingly more endearing. Here was a rifle more accurate than me, that didn't hurt my shoulder in southern clothing,& was a 100% reliable, hi capacity, semi auto. Over the years I have made a number of improvements (USA made components) enough on the "allowed list" for me to add the Romanian folding stock. It has been so satisfactory that it become my favorite rifle, so much so - I sold my others. It is reassuring to know that there is practically nothing you can do to it to make it malfunction. I take very good care of it, so it should outlive me. I'd love to have the Druganov version, a Krinkov, & several other rifles. Not being wealthy, I will need to curb my enthusiasm & be satisfied with the AK I own, as it is all I really need in a rifle.

Hello, Over the years, I have managed to collect a number of C&R or "surplus" rifles. I really enjoy them for their rich history and quality. Now, I have narrowed it down to about three rifles: Swiss K-31 Enfield .303 Swedish 1896 What are your favorites? Best, Chris Gotta say those top my list too. For a while I really liked the M1 and did a bunch of the CMP matches. Then my brother in law picked up an Ishapore smle that was having feeding issues. He brought it over to my shop and we broke it down and figured out the issues, welded up a couple spots, fitted a couple small parts a little better. Wound up being one of the smoothest, nicest shooting surplus guns I've ever shot. So of course I needed to get one for myself. There is something I really like about some guns, especially early 20th century designs. Working on them, I get a sense of why they were designed the way they were, the ingenuity behind them. I can visualize the people fitting/assembling/repairing them, often not in ideal settings. I've been in large production shops cranking out piles of M4's. They are pretty cool to watch, and the machines are pretty slick, but not the same.
