I'm kind of confused.I have a Hi Power made in 1992(according to what i've read on here). It is identical to a practical with adj.sights, however on the sticker,on the side of the box it says chrome. The box(grey plastic case) and the serial number match.I've seen other practical pistol boxes, that says practical on the sticker. This pistol is not the "Chrome model.Could the box be mis marked from the factory?I bought this pistol new back in the day and is still in mint condition,Thanks.

Welcome to the forum. This is a strange one, having the proper MKIII grey box serialized to the pistol. I have a 1995(NV) Practical with box, correct serial number and as you state, the label reads "Adjustable Sights Practical". My '96 Silver Chrome has a box but no label. I looked online for some sales of Silver Chrome and Practical models with boxes and label images. The Practical labels are, as one would expect marked Practical, including mine above and one I found online, a 93 (NX) labeled Practical. I found two versions for the Silver Chrome, one marked Silver Chrome for a 93 Silver Chrome (NW), the other a 92 (NY) labeled "Chrome Plated" lists as fixed sights, but has what appears to be the correct Millett adjustable sights on the pistol, although they could have been added later. Link to the sale/images www.gunauction.com/buy/16931113See images of box labels below. As you stated, it could be an improperly printed label which would not surprise me. Regarding different characteristics, the Silver Chrome should have a gold tone trigger and a black epoxy spur hammer, and black ambi safety, black extractor while the Practical models have a silver chrome ring hammer, silver chrome ambi safety and silver chrome trigger. You might wish to call Browning and see what they have listed for that serial number (Practical or Silver Chrome), if serial number is listed as a Practical, then it would be a label issue. I am waiting for info from the Browning historian, he is new and I am told his name is Ryan Skidmore. Call the main Browning number in Morgan Utah, and ask for the Historian. Customer service might be able to help as well, but their knowledge of older Hi Powers would be limited. Hope this helps. 93 Practical label 93 Silver Chrome 92 Silver Chrome label showing fixed sights, perhaps a label error or adjustable sights added later?

First of all,Thank You very much for Helping me and the join.Yes,your description is what i found too.I forgot to mention that my box says "chrome plated" and "adjustable sights".Mine has the ring hammer, trigger is not gold and the other parts are not black as you described. The picture below is like mine and the link is of a fellow on Gun Broker selling one he labeled as 'Practical" and it doesn't look like it.I will call Browning,as you suggested and see if they can shed some light on this mystery. www.gunbroker.com/item/885427515#carousel-modal-view-item

Update:I did get a hold of Ryan at Browning and he took my Info and said he would call me back.He hasn't as yet.In the meantime i took a couple of pictures of the pistol and the box.Even though the serial numbers match, you can see,it is a "Practical". Thanks.

Glad you got in touch with the Browning Historian. Hopefully he gets back to you shortly. Please keep us posted on the response. From the images you posted, I agree you have a Practical with all of the proper characteristics. Looks to be in great shape.

Hello,I received a call from Ryan Skidmore yesterday and he called my pistol an "anomaly".He checked the number and it checks out as a "Practical".He said,at least they got it half right(adj.sights) on the box sticker. He had an Browning item number if anyone was interested:240 05 434.That was,i think,on my model year(1992).He is a great guy and we had a good conversation.since they are very shorthanded,i was surprised he got back to me as soon as he did and Thanks again for all your help.

Glad to hear the Browning Historian was able to assist. Another member just posted about getting information from FN Customer service, FN's military sales Customer Service and and a final response from FNs Historian an L9A1 High Power. They are great resources for additional information and clarification on some of the unique characteristics and sequences of our Hi Powers.

As you can see my 95 Silver Chrome box says it’s a Practical and it’s Stock number is 2W05434, that’s the way it came. Is this another anomaly? Or is it more common than they claim.

If I recall correctly, a few years back, well perhaps more than that on another forum I believe either Burgs or Submoa had posted that you could not always trust the box label to be correct. So not totally unique, but obviously it does happen.
Not only is the box label in question, the Silver Chrome pistol itself looks more like a factory hybrid/special order than your typically Silver Chrome model. Silver Chrome Hi Powers usually had black rear (adjustable) and front sights, black spur hammer (cant see your hammer in the image), black extractor and black ambi black safety and slide stop and black mag release. All of the black furniture with a gold trigger.
The Practical had of course the black epoxy slide, black sights and extractor, with hard chrome trigger, ambi safety, rowel hammer, slide stop and trigger.
Have you looked into the origin of your pistol?

I purchased it new and it looked like this which has always confused me because my 96 silver chrome 9mm has the black spur hammer, safety levers, sights, slide release, and extractor, with the shiny gold trigger (I actually have all those parts available in my spares). I feel this is a practical with a silver slide, which makes little sense.
