Chuck Sorry for the delay of my answer... In Argentina to legally own a gun the first step is to obtain what is called "Credencial de legĂtimo usuario" (something like "user legitimate credential"... it's like a driver license for guns). To obtain it you must demonstrate 3 things: - lawful life media (basically that you work to get your money)
- physical and psychical aptitude (you're not crazy)
- clean criminal record
After that you can own guns. Every single gun has its own credential (with brand, model, serial number, and your name). Carrying weapons (ready for use) is forbiden almost for everyone (police officers are exemted of this norm). This is a very simplified description of weapons legislation here.
